Melatonin

Melatonin is a naturally produced hormone that helps the regulate sleep-wake cycle. In people with a normal sleep-wake cycle melatonin is produced about 14 hours after the waking up and helps signal to the body it is time to go to sleep.*

As people age the amount of melatonin produced by the body descreases until by the age of 70 we only produce about a quarter of the amount we did when younger. Studies have shown that adults over the age of 55 who are suffering from insomnia are likely to benefit from a 13 week long course of melatonin.*

Pharmacists can now supply up to 13 weeks of Circadin, which is the medsafe approved brand of melatonin, without prescription to patients over the age of 55 who are suffering from insomnia.

Please contact us below or come speak with one of our pharmacists to discuss any questions regarding the supply of melatonin.
